Birth is one of the most important and transformative moments in a mom's life. I believe she deserves to be seen, heard, and honored during this time. My goal is to always hold space for her. Barry Steven once said, "Don't push the river, it flows by itself." I think this quote is beautiful and so fitting for birth. It's beneficial to let contractions flow instead of fighting against them, birth can benefit from being given space to move on its own. There are times when she may need help or assistance, and there are also times the mom decides to choose an intervention. Personal autonomy is so important and I believe all moms should be listened to. Their intuition knows best.

My doula philosophy is to provide completely non-judgmental, loving support. Birth can be an incredibly transformational and meaningful life experience, yet our culture's current view of birth is very fear-based. My goal is to minimize that fear in the birth room while prioritizing comfort and safety. When we give birth in a safe, positive, loving atmosphere, birth can be a very healing experience. When we seek positive birth experiences, we create room for deeper family bonding, secure attachments, and build a foundation for healthy relationships that can last a lifetime. Healing of our families, our communities, and the earth, starts with birth.
